NEWS ROUND UP – MAY 2024

We have been working on several large projects and this News Roundup is to keep our Members up to date with the most important changes in the Village.

PAYMENT BARRIER - The new payment barrier at Findhorn Beach, West Car Park will be installed from 20th May, operational by 23rd May.  Findhorn Village Residents can request an access token, please go to:  https://www.findhornparking.com and complete the Annual Car Park Pass application form alternatively please call us on 07949321216 or email findhornvcc@gmail.com  Hard copies of form will be available at Findhorn Village Centre.  There is a £10 deposit for the access token which is returnable when token is returned to TFVCC.

The income raised from the Findhorn Beach West Car Park will support the cleaning and maintenance of our refurbished toilets, and contribute to the maintenance of the Car Parks. Findhorn Beach, East Car Park will remain free of charge.

VIEWING PLATFORM - The beach no step access ramps have proved to be very welcome, we are using the balance of the money raised to provide viewing platforms at the top.  The first will be installed at the Findhorn Beach West Car Park. With a viewing platform at the east no step access ramp  being programmed in for later in the year.

FINDHORN CHURCH - The Church project is moving ahead.  Our application to the Community Land Unit has been submitted and we await the Scottish Ministers decision.  In the meantime, the Church Session have confirmed that they will give us nine months to secure our funding to purchase the church. The application to the Scottish Land Fund is underway, but we are working to a tight timetable.

We are reaching out to all those who would be interested in joining a working group to guide this project and work with TFVCC in planning and developing the future of the Church.  A meeting is to held on Wednesday 22nd May, 7pm at Findhorn Village Centre and we hope that many of you will attend.

In the meantime, we have an agreement to use the Church.  The Findhorn Church will be available for Church of Scotland ceremonies, christenings, weddings, funerals by contacting Corine Davies cozzerdavies@gmail.com  who will liaise with you and the Minister.  For bookings of the Church for other uses please contact Findhorn Village Centre on 01309 692339.

CHURCH HALL - The Church Hall is available to hire for events or classes and we very much hope that the popular Teas will take place again, if volunteers would come forward to organise them to raise funds for their group and the refurbishment of the Church. Please contact Findhorn Village Centre,  01309 692339 to book hall.

MOTORHOME STOPOVER – Moray Council approved our planning application to increase maximum stay to three nights.  This will enable our Motor Home customers to stay a little longer and spend more time in Findhorn and surrounding area.

COASTAL EROSION – We are working with Moray Council on the problem of coastal erosion primarily along the bank at the front bay road (204 – Fyrish Road.  This suffered from the very high tides and winds earlier in the year, so far Moray Council have made a temporary repair but more extensive work will take place later in the summer. This will lead to some disruption to traffic which is unavoidable.

LOCAL PLACE PLAN.  Thank you to all those who contributed, this work is ongoing as we gather the information to meet the deadline in September.   There will be further opportunities to catch up and discuss progress.  Please see attached Local Place Plan Summary attached.
