Project Officer – Findhorn Kirk project

Part-time Self Employed (approx. 2–3 days per week) | Fixed-term (up to six months)

Fee: Commensurate with experience

About the Role

The Findhorn Village Conservation Company (TFVCC), supported by Highlands and Islands Enterprise, is seeking an enthusiastic and organised Project Officer to help deliver the next phase of the Findhorn Kirk Project.

This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in developing a sustainable future for Findhorn Kirk and the adjoining hall — a much-loved community buildings that we aim to secure and restore for local use.

Key Responsibilities

  • Community Engagement: Lead a programme of consultation to gather the wishes, ideas, and priorities of the local community regarding the future use of the Kirk and hall.
  • Project Development: Support the Kirk Steering Group in shaping a clear vision and plan for the Kirk’s future, based on community feedback.
  • Funding and Partnerships: Assist in identifying and applying for grant funding and partnership opportunities to support restoration and operational sustainability.
  • Communication: Prepare updates, reports, and promotional materials to keep the community, funders, and stakeholders informed and involved.
  • Coordination: Work closely with the TFVCC Board, Kirk  Steering Group,  consultants, and contractors as required.


Skills and Experience

We’re looking for someone who can bring energy, initiative, and strong people skills to the project.

Essential:

  • Excellent communication and facilitation skills
  • Experience in community engagement and consultation
  • Strong organisational and administrative abilities
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively with volunteers and partners
  • Competence in report writing and basic digital tools (email, Word, spreadsheets)

Desirable:

  • Experience in community development, heritage, and  building projects
  • Understanding of fundraising and grant application processes
  • Knowledge of the Findhorn and Moray area and local community
  • Contract and Support

This is a fixed-term post up to 6 months, with flexible working arrangements. The position is funded by Highlands and Islands Enterprise and managed by The Findhorn Village Conservation Company.
